Composer and Orchestral Conductor


Nacho de Paz (1974, Spain) has Master’s Degrees in Piano and Composition.
He studied Piano with Tsiala Kvernadze and Composition with José Luis de Delás.

He studied Orchestral Conducting with Arturo Tamayo and received advice of Pierre Boulez.

As assistant of Arturo Tamayo he has collaborated in multiple orchestral productions in Spain, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Holland, Portugal, Austria… as well as in different recording productions (Col-Legno, Timpani Records, Claves, Stradivarius... etc.).

He has been also Assistant Conductor of the Academia de Música Contemporánea (Contemporary Music Academy, 2003-04). The Academia was founded in 2003 by the INAEM (National Institute for Music and Performing Arts of the Spanish Ministry of Culture).

He has conducted in places like Teatro Monumental, Auditorio Nacional, Auditorio 500 (MNCARS) and Teatro de la Zarzuela of Madrid, L’Auditori of Barcelona, Palacio de Carlos V of Granada, Palacio de Congresos of Santander and the Radio KulturHaus (ORF) of Wien among others. He has recorded for the Spanish National Radio (RNE), Spanish National Television (TVE), “Fundación Autor” Records, Catalunya Radio & ORF 1 of Wien.

With Arturo Tamayo and André Richard he conducted the Spanish premiere of “Prometeo, tragedia del’ascolto” of Luigi Nono (2003, Madrid). He took part in the Spanish premieres of the operas “Silvano Sylvano” & “La Passion selon Sade” of Sylvano Bussotti and collaborated with the composer himself (2004, Madrid).

He was awarded the international composition prizes Joan Guinjoan (2002), Luigi Russolo (2003) and SGAE of electroacoustics (2004).

He is Professor of Analysis of Contemporary Music at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Aragón (Spain).
